Brogues and Broguing originate in Ireland from the late 16th century. Brōg being Gaelic for shoe. This particular Brogue boot style dates from  late 1920’s England onward. Made using classic Goodyear welted sole construction. These boots are surefire candidates for the definitive Brogue boot shape._x000D_

About Goodyear Welting The process ensures a watertight seal between the upper’s concealed inner sole and the outer sole.  The cavity created between the upper sole and the outer sole contains a cork layer that over time, moulds to your foot availing a more comfortable and personal fit. The process enables the outer sole to be replaced or repaired. Many modern, cheaper, imported boots have bonded soles which are soles that are glued to the upper and when they are worn away they are done for. Thrown away.
